We'd like to share an incredible survival story where a Gerber saw saved the life of a young man for the Christmas holidays.
My son, Skip and I have hunted together for almost 20 years. Your Gerber saw has been in each of our fanny packs whenever we are in the outdoors. On a recent deer hunting trip on our farm in Southwest Georgia, my son, Skip was descending down from his ladder stand at dusk only to have the ratchet strap come loose from the stand and the ladder swung from the tree. He jumped clear of the falling ladder only to find himself impaled 8 inches directly into his pelvic area by a 2.5-3 inch tree stump. He was unable to free himself 6 feet off the ground. He had the presence of mind to remember that he had his Gerber saw with him, reaching into the fanny pack he removed his saw and preceded to saw the tree down between his legs, thusly freeing him from his impailment. He then fell to the ground and the stump dislodged from his wound.
He ran to his ATV 500 yards away, loaded up, and drove 1 mile back to camp. When he arrived back at camp he got two of his buddies and they rushed him to the local hospital in Americus, Georgia. After stabilizing him he was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center Trauma Unit where he is alive and forever thankful he had his trusty saw with him. It is our hope and wish to share this story with all hunters so that they will consider carrying a Gerber saw as a staple in their outdoor gear.
